If you are unfamiliar with Intune Managed Browser, it is a web browser than allows companies to provide a safe browsing experience. Employees can access corporate websites within a safe environment. The browser achieved this through features such as conditional access, single sign-on, and application protection policies. Microsoft’s reasoning for removing the Managed Browser is a sensible one. In a blog post, the company the new Chromium Edge browser carries the same abilities natively as the Intune Managed Browser. Furthermore, the new browser experience has more features for end users. With that in mind, Managed Browser will be removed from Intune on January 27, 2020. Microsoft will remove the browser from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for Android on February 1, 2020. The company says on March 31, 2020, the browser will be removed from Azure.
Edge Release
Earlier this month, Microsoft revealed Chromium Edge will be fully launched on January 15, 2020. Microsoft’s new web browser has been in preview since April, running across three development channels. Among the new tools coming to Intune in recent months include availability on Android Enterprise, Derived Credentials on iOS, a Admin Hub added to Microsoft 365, and features for macOS Catalina.
